An email from the president of the United States
Three days ago I received an email from the president of the United States of America; Dear Mr. Bunny Bunzenburner, First of all Laura and I would like to wish you a happy New Year, and all the best for 2007! A while ago General T. Michael Moseley, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force called to attention the extraordinary and perilous journey that you have undertaken. He also told me about the battle that you are engaged in. This struggle, one of good versus evil, is one that I am very familiar with. You are an example to us all and, if I may be so frank as to admit to you, have recently become a part of my daily prayers. These are hazardous times for freedom and for those, like you and me, who love freedom and are willing to go the extra mile for it. Your travails are a fixed topic in my meetings with the most senior members of my staff and cabinet. A group of interns at the White House has even established a support group that organizes Bunny-themed day-trips to the Stimpson Family nature reserve and colloquia bearing lofty titles such as “Bunny B. vis-à-vis Manichaeism”, “Neo-Platonic structuralism and the thing with Cassandra”, and “Bunny’s journey; a Marco Polo for our Age?” Now, I don’t pretend to know a lot about these issues but I can tell you one thing; George W. digs you. You are a bunny for the people; a bunny that says things as they are, and one that is not afraid to come out strong against the injustices that plague the United States and its allies abroad and in other countries. It is our hope that you continue on the path that God has laid out for you. And may that same God bless you. George W. Bush
PS What happened to Elsa, Louisa, Ethel and Paris?
My reply was as follows; Dear Mr. President, I cannot begin to express how much I feel honored and thankful to receive a letter from you. Of course, my best wishes go out to you too, and to your lovely wife Laura and the twins. I hope they are doing well in college (at least better than I did back in the days; or should I say “daze”?). It’s a funny little world, this much I’ve discovered already. Evil is everywhere, and we need to fight it with all our might. So far I believe I’ve been quite successful; things have not gotten noticeably worse. Unfortunately I cannot expound at length since I currently find myself in an internet café in Aachen, Germany, and I don’t have enough money to pay for a second half hour. They’re pretty strict with those things. I will write more when I have sufficient time and funds. Additionally, one day I hope to get back to America so that we can have a good old chat about Cajun food, carrots and topics related to those things. Perhaps you could meet some of my friends such as Missy Elliot, P. Diddy, Jay Leno and Germaine Jackson. I know this brilliant restaurant in Houston called Yia Yia Mary's - Pappas Greek Kitchen. It’s not Cajun, but it’s worth an excursion. Have you been there? All the best, Bunny Bunzenburner
PS Elsa, Louisa, Ethel and Paris are fine. Louisa didn’t make it over the fence though, but she wasn’t that keen on having kids anyway.
